The Past Awakens In Tang Paradise
China is one of the top 5 tourist destinations in the world. In2008, 53 million visitors arrived, which is quite a jump from the 300,000 who visited the nation in 1978. In the last few decades, China has opened many theme parks. One of these is Tang Paradise which opened in 2005, which is part of a larger tourist resort area which also includes the free and amazing musical fountain at the Great Wild Goose pagoda square. It simulates a taste of life during a great period in Chinese history. It is located close to the site of the original royal Furong Garden with an area of 164.7 acres where water covers 49.4 acres. It is the first grand royal garden cultural theme park that is a comprehensive display of a very special period of ancient culture. Tang Paradise is also a sensory experience which add to the magical atmosphere. Due to its large expanse, you are advised to take the shuttle bus to transport yourself to different areas of the park.
Tang Paradise is a cultural theme park recreating the Tang Dynasty era, its culture and its royal gardens in its former capital then carrying the name Chang an. It features numerous buildings, squares and gardens. It is located near the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in the city now carrying the name of Xian, a name dating back to the Ming Dynasty era. Xian is the capital of what is today Shaanxi province. This city has many historical landmarks, including the Terracotta Warriors of the Qin dynastic era, the Xian City Wall constructed during the Ming Dynasty and Wild Goose Pagoda of the Tan era originally constructed to store translations of Buddhist sutras obtained from India by the Buddhist monk Xuan Zang, reflect its heritage as the dynastic capital of ancient China. Apart from its historical landmarks, Xian also has modern tourist attractions.
The Tang Paradise is a modern attraction celebrating one of the golden periods of the grand history of its host city. It also enhances the experience with some modern technological wizardry. This is where you can see the grand water-screen movies. In this phenomenon the screen is a film of water. The optical effect is 3D. Strolling in this park, you will be journeying through time in a location that harkens back to the nearby original Furong Garden. In this garden there were annual celebrations on the third day of the third month and the ninth day of the ninth month. The garden would have special festive decorations with music played throughout the garden. Merchants and vendors would set up markets and the public would be invited. The royal entourage would also feast and enjoy the garden pleasures. This Tang practice of opening the imperial garden for the people to enjoy themselves in the company of royalty and aristocrats was a rare feature of Chinese history. The flourishing of culture and art during the Tang era also influenced the development of private gardens. The poetic depictions of natural scenery increasingly mature. Traditional Chinese scenic paintings also matured to become an independent school of painting in itself. Many renowned scenic painters became famous for their work thereafter. The flourishing of poetry and painting depicting scenery influenced the designs and the building of gardens of that period. Imperial gardens were situated in the city and its outskirts. The largest had twenty four smaller gardens and structural clusters within its bounds. During the period, a Royal Art Institute was established in such a garden where the emperor himself enjoyed teaching.
Xian, the capital of dynasties
One of the oldest cities in China, it is one of the great capital cities of ancient China and has a history spanning thousands of years. Here are also archaeological discoveries not the least of which are the famous Terracotta Army ordered constructed by the first emperor of unified China during the Qin dynasty whose mausoleum is near the modern city of Xian. The Lantian Man dating back 500,000 years was found here and 6,500 year old neolithic village was discovered in the city outskirts. The city became a cultural and political center in the 11th century BC under the Zhou Dynasty.
The culture of Xian is rooted in the Guanzhong Ren, one of the earliest civilizations in the world. An international marathon is run across the City Wall in November. Xian has been selected as the site for the 2011 World Horticultural Exposition. The 2011 Expo will take place between April 11 to October 11, 2011. The exhibition is expected to bring some ten million visitors to Xian, which also is renowned for the natural hot springs of the region. The Huaqing Hot Spring was a famous imperial bathing pool and the site of various palace complexes over its 3,000 year history. It is one of the hundred famous gardens of China, so near this theme park is a real garden of historical significance. Tang Paradise is one of the many reasons Xian is a major tourism attraction. The city is chock full of historical sites.
